Where to ride from Cancale
Pointe du Grouin — 12 km round trip, moderate
From the port de la Houle, six kilometres of steady climbing to the nature reserve. A 360-degree view over the bay of Mont Saint-Michel, the Île des Landes and its seabird colonies. The road is fine on a city bike; the tracks around the headland call for a mountain bike.
Cancale to Saint-Malo along the coast — 15 km, moderate

Cancale to Mont Saint-Michel — 45 km, challenging
Along the bay via Le Vivier-sur-Mer and the Duchesse Anne dyke. Almost entirely flat, but exposed: the wind decides how hard it is. An electric bike is strongly recommended for the round trip in a day. See our Saint-Malo to Mont Saint-Michel guide.
The oyster beds loop — 8 km, easy
The quiet end-of-day ride: the low road along the oyster beds on a falling tide, as the oyster tractors come back in. Flat, short, ideal with children.

Can you cycle to Mont Saint-Michel from Cancale?+

Which bike for the Pointe du Grouin?+
The road up to the Pointe du Grouin is fine on a city bike: 6 kilometres from the port de la Houle with a steady climb. If you want to ride the coastal customs path and the tracks around the headland, take a mountain bike.
Should I book ahead in summer?+
In July and August, yes. Electric bikes and kids bikes go first. Book a few days before you arrive if you can. There is no online payment: you send a request and we confirm availability within 24 hours.
